Our Mission

Instrumental in raising funds for the last major Library expansion at the turn of the 21st century, the Foundation is once again embarking on a capital campaign to prepare our library facility for future generations.

The South Brunswick Public Library Board of Trustees have developed a multifaceted construction plan that will ensure that the Library’s Christopher J. Killmurray building keeps pace with its growing community to serve as the Township’s center for information, technology, culture and the arts, providing opportunities for discovery and connecting our community. The plan has been granted approval and funding support by the Township Council and Administration.

The plan includes interior renovations, such as HVAC repairs and ADA upgrades, plus a 10,400 square foot wing and enlarged parking area to be built using the municipally-owned lots next door. The wing will include a large meeting room and a 128-seat auditorium with stage. The authorized cost of the plan is $7,198,704. Funding will come from several sources, including a state grant of $3,586,852, a Township Bond of $3,011,852, and a SBPL Trustee contribution of $250,000 and fundraising. Township residents will only pay 42 cents on the dollar for this once in a lifetime opportunity.

The South Brunswick Public Library Foundation is leading a capital campaign “Building the Next Chapter: Constructing Community Spaces” with a fundraising goal of $500,000. Donations to the campaign are welcome and a variety of naming opportunities and sponsorship levels are available to give your support. For more details on the campaign, please click the Building the Next Chapter link at the top of the page.

Construction is expected to begin in 2022 and completed by late 2023.
